This is a delightful and lovingly preserved historic town with a full-time population of about 100. Founded in 1870, Round Top received its colorful name from an old stagecoach landmark, a house with a round top located about a mile outside of the present town.
Round Top is a cultural hub, hosting annual antique mega-events, a series of annual summer music festivals, and the Sterling McCall Old Car Museum. Round Top is also home to the beloved Shakespeare at Winedale theater, presented by the University of Texas, and Festival Hill, a year-round performing arts and conference center.
